Long, who was appointed CEO in February, also outlines her vision for the future of CIH and discusses how Grant Shapps’ comment about the "lazy consensus" has the capacity to divide the sector that CIH aims to unify.
She also tells of her worries over an unregulated and rapidly growing private rented sector – which is due to overtake the social housing market in 2015 – and the need for tailored solutions to prevent a private rented sub sector of acutely poor standards from developing.
Other areas of concern she highlights include the need for great care when cutting housing services to prevent massive problems years down the line to families already facing traumas in other areas of their lives.
