Boris pledges action on non decent homes

Mike Tuffrey specifically pressed the Mayor to ensure that action was taken in boroughs which have not yet had funding to undertake basic repairs and refurbishment of their housing stock because their ALMOs have yet to attain 2 * status."

Commenting on the reply that Mike Tuffrey received from the Mayor he said:

"With central government set to devolve extra powers to the Mayor over housing it is vital that the Mayor uses his influence to full effect. The Mayor must now take a lead to tackle the scandalous situation of so many local authority houses in Tower Hamlets and elsewhere still remaining in such a poor state.

"While the Mayor is not responsible for the many years of neglect of council housing he most certainly can be part of the solution."
