Housing Pact urges Government action in sector

The Housing Pact, delivered by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and supported by Ocean Media Group – publishers of Inside Housing magazine – was developed by housing staff, tenants, board members and councillors during the CIH annual conference in June.

It sets out what is needed to tackle the country’s worrying housing challenges. It also commits the housing sector to be more innovative in pursuing new partnerships and new ways to deliver affordable homes.

CIH Chief Executive Sarah Webb said: "The Housing Pact is a clear message from people with a passionate interest in housing.

"As a sector we understand the need for spending cuts, but we will not stop fighting for affordable rented housing, fighting for the most vulnerable and working tirelessly to ensure no one is trapped in poverty by their housing.

"There are tough times ahead but I am convinced that by working together we can make a positive and constructive contribution to delivering homes and communities we can all be proud of."
