Managing Director, David Simpson, proudly states: “We would have been pleased to collect one of these prestigious titles but to collect the top three awards at the ‘Oscars’ of the house building industry is an outstanding achievement for the entire Millgate team, to whom I would like to dedicate our success.”
What makes the feat all the more remarkable is that only two Millgate homes were entered in this year’s competition, each taking the top prize in its section. Kenley House in Surrey, an 1800s mansion transformed into a modern country house offering some 10,000 sq ft of accommodation, impressed the judges of the ‘Best New Luxury Home’ category to win hands down. All of the reader judges said they wanted to move in and summarised that “this sympathetically refurbished home has everything you need in a luxury home”.
Meanwhile Longwood Manor, one of just three modern mansions built alongside Kenley House, won the ‘Best New Family Home with up to Five Bedrooms’ category; the judges simply labelling it ‘superb’.
At the conclusion of the award ceremony, Longwood Manor was also named the ‘Best New Home of the Year’, its combination of elegant neo-Georgian styling, open plan interior layouts and outstanding specification scoring straight 10s with all the judges and the visiting assessor announcing it as being ‘…the best house he had ever seen’.
The achievement is down to the passion and dedication of the entire Millgate Homes team, as David Simpson concludes:
“There have been times during the past twenty four months or so, when we have faced serious challenges and had to make tough decisions. Facing a confused and difficult market may have led us to doubt our brand values and our approach to management.
“However, we have refused to be compromised and have continued to do what we believe is right for our company and our customers. We have designed homes that customers fall in love with and this has produced sales that out-perform our competitors. That we have now been recognised by the Evening Standard for having built not only the best luxury home in 2010, best 5 bedroom house in 2010 but also the 2010 ‘New Home of the Year’ is testament to the strength of our conviction.
“It is not just the recognition itself that makes us feel so pleased; it is the vindication of the collective blood, sweat and tears that we have endured over the last year. We are a company that works hard, does the right things and believes in itself. We are never arrogant, neither are we complacent – but, oh boy, are we proud!”
Whilst both Kenley House and Longwood Manor have now been sold, new homes in Surrey and new homes in Berkshire featuring Millgate Homes’ award-winning style are presently available in some of the finest locations across including Woking, Cobham, Camberley, Chipstead, Farnham and Wokingham. New sites are also taking shape in Tadworth, Farnham, Kingswood, Epsom, Wargrave, Ascot and Wentworth.
