His deception, which related to six offences under the Social Security Administration Act, was uncovered by Birmingham City Council investigators.
Teji presented himself as needy tenant while disguising the fact that he was the legitimate owner of the property he was living in and claiming benefit from.
Cllr Randal Brew, Cabinet Member for Finance, said: “These are tough times for everyone but committing benefit fraud simply cannot be condoned.
“This case demonstrates how committed we are to driving down the levels of benefit fraud across the city.
“We want people to have their rightful entitlement to benefit but those committing fraud will be rooted out.”
