Presented by auctioneer and antiques expert Kate Bliss, each episode sees two family homes paid a visit by three hard-bitten, expert antique dealers on the look-out for fresh items they can sell. While each family are out, the competing antique dealers tour their homes inspecting everything of value. From jewellery, sideboards and children’s toys, to jumbled attics, ‘kitchenalia’ and furniture; nothing is out of bounds to the dealers.
The families then return to a series of surprise valuations and cash offers on some of their most prized possessions. They can either accept or reject the offers and the families must then face the choice between sentimental attachment and the chance to make a fast buck.
The series was commissioned by Katy Thorogood, Commissioner, Factual and Daytime, and Alison Sharman, Director of Factual, Daytime and Daybreak.
Katy Thorogood said:
“RDF have come up with such a simple, elegant format that combines all the fun of hunting for antiques in people’s houses, the surprise of the valuations and a great hook – will they sell?”
Mark Hill, Head of RDF Television West, said:
"We’re very excited about this new series which explores the emotional relationship we often have with our most treasured possessions and Kate is the perfect host to help homeowners choose between tempting big money offers and sentimental attachment."
