Private rented property conditions: Have your say

A new discussion document has been issued by the government that considers what more can be done and how best to tackle rogue landlords, without negatively impacting on the good ones.

The government announced a package of measures on 16 October 2013 ( https://www.gov.uk/government/news/a-brighter-future-for-hardworking-tenants ) to help ensure that tenants get a good deal when they rent a home. The measures included a commitment to undertake a review into property conditions in the private rented sector.

This discussion document is the first stage of the review. The government have set out the issues that the review will cover and are inviting comments.

The document does not recommend any policy or legal changes and the inclusion of particular issues or questions in the document should not be taken to imply that the government has decided to introduce any new requirements on the sector.

The closing date for responses is 21 March 2014. Responses should be sent to: PRSReview@communities.gsi.gov.uk

You can access the discussion document here: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/279014/Review_of_property_conditions_in_the_private_rented_sector.pdf
