Land Registry – the government department responsible for registering land ownership in England and Wales – is currently encouraging landowners to register their land voluntarily.
Register Development Manager for Suffolk, Martyn Davies, said:
"Just 64 per cent of the land in Suffolk is registered – one of the lowest levels in England and Wales.
"Registration is relatively inexpensive and straightforward to carry out. It establishes proof of ownership and makes buying and selling land easier and less costly with key information easy to access and in one place.
"What’s more if you act now to register your land voluntarily, you can benefit from a 25 per cent discount on the registration fee."
