Miller Construction wins £100m regeneration project

Frank Joyce, Area Director, Miller Construction, said: "We are delighted that all of our hard work on the pre-contract negotiations and our development of the scheme with the client and their consultants has now come to fruition.

"The progression of the scheme has also been greatly enhanced by the early integration of our supply chain which has enabled us to bring additional experience and knowledge to assist in the value management process.

"Our partnering approach has ensured a smooth start to works on site and the early phases of the superstructure works are in line with our programme.

"The delivery of this scheme in spring 2010 will be carried out safely and within budget requirements, and will herald a new destination venue for Kendal which is widely regarded as the gateway to the Lakes."

John Drummond, Kendal Riverside, said: "With the appointment of Miller Construction as the project’s principle superstructure contractor, the first major milestone of the redevelopment is almost achieved with the near completion of the substructure. Miller has also been awarded the fit-out contracts for the residential and commercial aspects of the development and we are looking forward to continuing good progress on this exciting project with them.

"In addition, we have also appointed Thornton Firkin as project managers for the superstructure contract in addition to their existing role as quantity surveyors for the scheme. Alongside Ward Cole Consulting Engineers, RPS Gregory and WH Stephens, we are confident that this mix of the best in the business will ensure that a first-class project is delivered on time and to budget." Kendal Riverside is scheduled for completion in spring 2010.
