The conclusion of the sale on behalf of W Pearce & Co, followed many years of negotiation with both Northampton Borough Council and West Northants Development Corporation, the outcome of which has been to deliver a high-quality, mixed-use housing and commercial scheme which will bring the Pearce Leather Works site back to life.
“The site is truly unique and will provide much needed housing in the area and employment opportunities once the commercial element of the scheme has been completed,” says the firms National Land Director Roger Barrett. “I am delighted that Connells was able to bring all parties together to make this project work.”
Nationwide, the team has seen a marked improvement in the land market in 2010 and recently announced it concluded land deals worth £40 million in the first quarter of this year.
“Developers are responding to greater demand for new homes so land, especially land with planning permission, is highly sought after,” Roger continues. “There is currently a shortage of sites so we are urging any landowners with a view to sell this year to get their land on the market as soon as possible to take advantage of the current high level of demand.”
