Children warned to steer clear of building sites

"Youngsters are often on the lookout for somewhere new and exciting to play, but construction sites are not adventure playgrounds," said Steve Cartwright, Construction Director for Barratt West Midlands.

"As the school holidays are with us again, it is important to remind children and their parents about the potential dangers of building sites and the need to stay away from them.

"We have active sites across the region, and have recently started work on our Kensington Gardens, Skyline and Westminster Place developments in Birmingham.

"Our construction teams watch out for youngsters while they are working and we secure our sites when we finish for the day. But we also ask parents to make sure they know where their children are during the holiday time."

Barratt holds regular safety talks and site visits for schools close to where it is building, to highlight the hazards of playing on or near building sites.

"It’s important to get youngsters thinking about the dangers that exist and get the message across that they should stay away," Cartwright said.
