More than £3bn worth of homes sold in Scotland in 9 months

Malcolm Cannon, Chairman of SPC Scotland and Chief Executive of Edinburgh Solicitors Property Centre (ESPC) said,

“These latest figures show that there has been a steady flow of properties changing hands across the country, despite the current economic downturn.

“There are still more properties for sale than there are buyers, so it’s tough on sellers at the moment.  But the data we’ve gathered tells us that houses are selling – as long as the seller is realistic about their asking price.  Your solicitor estate agent is in a good position to offer advice on this crucial aspect”.

SPC Scotland is a joint initiative amongst the majority of the solicitors’ property centres across Scotland.  Each property centre has its own website and weekly newspaper advertising local properties for sale.  From 30 November, SPC Scotland’s new website will bring together all the properties from the member centres’ sites into one place.

Malcolm Cannon explained,

“The new website is a major development that will be enormously helpful to buyers and sellers alike. House hunters will find the site very easy to use, giving them immediate access to detailed information and photographs for over 14000 properties for sale across Scotland.

“We know from research that it’s important to maximize your property’s exposure at both local and national levels. So for those who are selling, by doing so through a solicitor estate agent, your house will be featured not only through your local property centre, but now on the national website as well.
“And it seemed somehow appropriate to launch the new Scotland site on St Andrew’s Day – an important date on the Scottish calendar!”
