With house prices soaring above wage levels, is London destined to become a city of renters?
Is shared ownership the answer? If so, does it work for low income groups? Or do shared owners get trapped, and unable to sell on?
What about other models of affordable home ownership – should the Mayor look at community ownership as well?
The London Assembly will tomorrow hear evidence on the Mayor’s affordable housing programme from the following guests:
•Alex Hilton, Director, Generation Rent
•Kush Rawal, Marketing Director, Thames Valley Housing Association
•Stephen Hill, Trustee, National Community Land Trust Network
•Jamie Ratcliff, Assistant Director – Programme, Policy and Services, Greater London Authority
The meeting will take place on Tuesday 10 February from 10:00am in Committee Room 5, City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
Media and members of the public are invited to attend. The meeting can also be viewed via webcast.
