Win a cottage prize offered to ‘staycationers’

"During the boom years people might have turned their noses up at staying in the UK for their summer holiday, but as more of us are choosing to ‘staycation’ the Peak District has become one of the top three UK holiday destinations,” said Marie Mallon, one half of

"Lounging on tropical beaches with mojitos might seem glamorous, but you just can’t beat cream teas and summer strolls through the rolling English hillside.”

What’s more, the buyer is automatically entered into a prize draw to win one of the holiday cottages providing them with their very own slice of Bakewell.

"The village of Over Haddon alone is surrounded by countryside rambles, views of the Lathkill Dale Nature Reserve and an award-winning local, The Lathkill Hotel, which has been in the Good Pub Guide for the last 27 years," said Mallon.

"It’s a beautiful part of the world so we baked up an innovative marketing strategy for our business that we hope will help give our fellow traders and local economy a valuable boost. And the icing on the cake is that someone will walk away with their own cottage in the country."

The recession-busting vouchers entitle the bearer to a stay in one of ten holiday cottages situated in the grounds of a Grade II listed Manor house.

All converted cattle sheds, the cottages have been lovingly restored with locally-sourced stone and chic interiors by Matlock firm Indigo Furniture.

To sweeten the deal, two-bedroom Unicorn Cottage, worth £250,000 is being given away in a unique prize draw that will see a maximum of 25,000 entrants receive a Bakewell Pudding in the post.

The ten participants who find a golden key with their pudding will be invited to the grand final where one of those keys will literally unlock the dream home.
