Now the company has switched focus to the Canary Islands – thanks to the recent announcement by AENA, the Spanish airport authority, that all charges and taxes will be waived until March 31 2010.
Ryanair will be operating a total of 15 new routes to Lanzarote, 16 to Gran Canaria and eight to Tenerife. With the airline estimating that this initiative could bring up to two million passengers to the Canaries during the course of this winter.
New flights to Lanzarote will be available from Birmingham, Bristol, Bournemouth, Luton, East Midlands, Liverpool and Prestwick airports.
