Energy efficient homes ‘can make it more saleable and warmer’

From 2012, all house sellers will have to publish the energy rating of their property in the sale advertisement, providing potential buyers with information about how green a house is before they view it.

Under the current system, homeowners are required to commission an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for their property, but the system has been criticised for not producing results fast enough.

Mr Levermore commented: "The link between the value of a home and its energy efficiency is about to get much clearer – but that’s a must if the government is to realise its ambitious plans of reducing household carbon emissions by 29 per cent by 2020."
